Fabric Finishing Processes
After weaving or knitting, fabrics undergo various finishing processes that dramatically affect their feel, look, strength, colorfastness, and usability. The right finishing can turn an ordinary fabric into a premium textile — suitable for high-end hotels, industrial use, or customized branding. Below are the main finishing processes we offer or can arrange through our extended production network.
1. Bleaching
Removes natural color from cotton and other fibers to create a clean white base. Essential for hotel linens, medical use, or solid-dye preparation. We offer optical brightening options on request.
2. Dyeing (Reactive / VAT / Pigment)
We support solid color dyeing using different techniques:
- Reactive Dyeing – For deep, vibrant, colorfast shades (ideal for cotton).
- VAT Dyeing – Strong wash-fast colors, especially in canvas or workwear fabrics.
- Pigment Dyeing – Budget-friendly, softer penetration — good for certain fashion looks.
3. Printing
We can arrange screen printing, rotary printing, or digital printing — for customized patterns, logos, or branding on bedsheets, towels, or cotton canvas. MOQ applies depending on type.
4. Mercerization
A chemical treatment for cotton that increases luster, improves strength, and enhances dye uptake. Especially recommended for high-thread-count sheets and luxury pillowcases.
5. Sanforizing (Pre-shrinking)
Minimizes fabric shrinkage after washing. A must-have for fitted sheets and garments that need to retain size after multiple washes. We offer pre-shrunk options upon request.
6. Anti-Pilling Treatment
Helps prevent fabric surface fuzz (pills) from forming — especially important in polyester-rich fabrics or blends used in hotels, schools, or uniforms.
7. Softener / Hand-Feel Finish
Adjusts the feel of the fabric — from crisp percale to ultra-soft peach finish. Can be tailored for luxury towels, robes, or baby products.
8. Water-Repellent / Stain-Resistant Coating
Common in mattress protectors, pillow protectors, and outdoor fabrics. We can arrange both water-repellent and oil/stain-resistant finishes (PU or Teflon based).
9. Flame-Retardant Treatment (FR)
For safety-sensitive applications like hospitals, hotels, or workwear. We can source or process fabrics with certified FR coating — available on request with minimum quantities.
10. Enzyme Wash / Bio-Polishing
Used to improve fabric smoothness and remove fuzz — especially in knitwear or brushed fabrics. Produces a cleaner look and feel with reduced pilling.
11. Brushing / Raising
Adds warmth and softness by lifting fibers from the fabric surface. Common in flannel bedding, winter garments, or certain luxury towels.
Custom Finishes Available
If you have a specific finishing requirement not listed here, we’ll advise on technical feasibility and cost. You can provide a reference sample or describe your expected texture, shrinkage control, or wash performance — we’ll handle the rest.
Lab Testing & Certification
For large-volume or export-sensitive clients, we can assist in arranging third-party testing for colorfastness, shrinkage, GSM, composition, and safety. Even without formal certifications, we focus on maintaining high-quality consistency batch after batch.
12. Antibacterial & Antimicrobial Finishes
These finishes are applied to fabrics to inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi, and odor-causing microbes. Highly recommended for hospital linens, gym towels, uniforms, and travel textiles. We can offer:
- Silver-based coatings – Long-lasting and safe for skin contact.
- Quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC) – Cost-effective and effective for disposable or short-lifecycle items.
- Natural antibacterial options – Aloe vera, bamboo, or herbal blends (subject to MOQ and application method).
These finishes help improve hygiene, reduce laundry frequency, and enhance the perceived value of your product. Faric Type Explained
